After a long and happy life, Elizabeth Erhardt Dunleavy, the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth Buser has passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021.  Born 9/01/1915 in Brooklyn, NY, she is survived by her daughter Eleanor Field of Poughkeepsie, New York, her son Thomas and daughter-in-law Virginia Erhardt of Remsenburg, New York and daughter Elizabeth Erhardt of Land O Lakes, Florida.  In addition, she is survived by her sister Claire Sievers of Queens Village, NY,  11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband’s Robert B. Erhardt, Sr., and Charles J. Dunleavy, Jr., son Robert B. Erhardt, Jr. and son-in-law James A. Field as well as sisters Marie Herrick, Eleanor Tierney and Frances Grady and their husbands.

Elizabeth was a longtime resident of Garden City. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a member of the Mercy Hospital Junior League, Cooperative Extension, the Garden City Historical Society and the Women’s Club of Garden City.

She was the last surviving member of her elementary class at St. Joachim & Ann, Queens Village, class of 1929 and graduated from Our Lady of Wisdom Academy, Ozone Park in 1933.  She returned to school after her children were grown and received her AA degree from Nassau Community College in 1975 and then her BA from Molloy College in Art Education in 1977.

Elizabeth’s life and home reflected her love of the arts, sewing, gardening and entertaining.  She enjoyed many years of extensive traveling, visiting many exotic sites.  The family all knew of her sweet tooth.  When her grandchildren visited, they would check her cookie jar for fresh baked goodies.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on  May 21st, 2021 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Franklin Ave., Garden City followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Mother’s caregiver Mariya Kozak for her years of care and compassion.
