Who we are

On July 11, 1940, the New York Association of Independent Adjusters, Inc. was founded. The NYAIAI is currently one of the oldest and most effective insurance associations in the United States, with more than 65 firms with 80 offices, representing over 160 members. The Association has grown into a positive, powerful force within the insurance industry. Under the NYAIAI constitution, the Executive Committee consists of members representing several fields including: Fire, Casualty, Inland Marine and Automotive. We hold regular regional meetings, within the State, to support and promote our statewide insurance industry concerns.

An Independent Adjuster is an experienced investigator and adjuster who handles losses and claims only for insurance companies.

Independent Adjusters do not work for the insured as a public adjuster does - they represent only the companies or self-insurers.

Independent Adjusters operate their own business and must therefore give prompt and satisfactory service to please their customers, the insurance companies.

Their fees must be reasonable and their work well done.

They are professionals in insurance claims and present their reports so the company supervisor will only have to approve or make suggestions about the adjuster’s appraisal of the claim.

The Independent Adjuster takes the place of or supplements the company staff adjuster and is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

They are your Professional Adjusters.
